Florida = The Wild West?

The State of Florida recently approved legislation that now gives residents the right to open fire in public against anyone they perceive as a threat. The old law required you to at least make an attempt to avoid conflict before capping someone.

Ah, Florida you never cease to amaze me.

Sheesh...only in Florida. I guess that's what they get with a republican at the helm.

For anyone who would like to read the full bill (SB 436), you can find it here. The exact terminology they use on when you can use force is when "it is reasonably necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to [your]self or another or to prevent the commision of a forcible felony."

So my wording (which came from the linked Yahoo article) is probably a little too inclusive, I should have said "gives residents the right to open fire in public against anyone they perceive may cause injury or commit a forcible felony." Either way it's a scary law in my opinion.

I like the term blogaganda, I may start using that myself :-)
